Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
What color should i paint my room?
my room is pretty big and i want to paint my room two different colors, like two walls one color and the other two walls another color, and i want to match my sheets which are blue, light blue, grey, white little lines and dark blue ,its got circle on one side and square on the other side. My floor is hardwood and if u go to following website it is the second picture in the very middle http://www.wood-floor-store.com/types/brazilian_cherry_flooring.htm
please dont say white cuz i dont think white is a good color for a 15year old boy room and i got yellow walls and hating it so what color should i paint my room

    • ANSWER:
I would say pick the darkest blue from the sheet set and do it on opposite walls, then pick the lightest color, either another shade of blue or a grey and paint the other two walls that color. If you take the sheet set to a paint store they should be able to get you a great match. Also, if you are not opposed to orange that is the complimentary color to blue and would look great as an offset on the opposite walls, using two lighter colors would make the room seem bigger. If you use darker colors, it may make the room seem smaller.

  2. QUESTION:
Would Golden Persa Granite look good in a small kitchen?
I am looking at new granite counter tops for my kitchen. I have Brazilian Cherry wood floors with oak cabinets. I really like the look of Golden Persa granite, and I think the color goes well in the kitchen. However, someone suggested that a granite with a tighter pattern would go better in my kitchen because it is somewhat small. Do you think that Golden Persa granite would be overwhelming in a small kitchen? The main slab where the sink goes would measure about 7’6.” Then on the other side of the kitchen there would be about a 2’6″ slab on both sides of the range/oven. Please let me know your opinions! Thanks! Below are links to a few pictures of my kitchen (usually it has better lighting but the photos were taken on a somewhat ugly day).

    • ANSWER:
I would refer you to use Multi-colored stone with variations of rose, burgundy, orange and beige veining. It also has some gray streaks on a creamy background. It would add elegance in your small kitchen.

  3. QUESTION:
    Paint color help needed-DESPERATELY!?
Can someone help me find a paint color that will go well with Restoration Hardware Silver Sage paint color as well as Venetian Gold granite? Silver sage color picture: http://www.restorationhardware.com/rh/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod1048015
Venetian Gold Granite color: you can google “venetian gold granite” under google image and color will appear.

The silver sage paint is on the dining room wall and I’m trying to find a paint color that will go in the kitchen that goes well with the venetian gold granite color but at the same time goes well with the silver sage. All hardware is chrome or polished silver and cabinets are creamy white. Floors are Brazilian Cherry color (google under image). This is proving to be tricky since the granite and wood is warm colors and silver sage and chrome/polished silver is cool colors. Thanks again!!

    Thanks so much!!

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the “painted” rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think a dark neutral color like “greenblack” (# 6994) would be a good choice. Since your cupboards are a white, it will contrast them well & the color won’t be too overpowering.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & for they’ll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like
